Check for signs of opioid overdose: unresponsive, slow or no breathing, blue or gray lips, pinpoint pupils
Call emergency services immediately
Give one dose of Narcan as directed on the package
For nasal spray, place the person on their back and tilt the head back slightly
Insert the nozzle into one nostril until your fingers touch the nose
Press the plunger firmly to release the dose
For injectable Narcan, follow the device instructions exactly
If the person does not respond after 2 to 3 minutes, give another dose
Continue giving doses every 2 to 3 minutes if needed
Start rescue breathing or CPR if trained and the person is not breathing
Place the person on their side if they start breathing again
Stay with the person until emergency help arrives
Give emergency responders any information about the overdose and doses given
