Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil
Plant tulip bulbs in fall, before the ground freezes
Set bulbs about 6 to 8 inches deep
Space bulbs about 4 to 6 inches apart
Place bulbs with the pointed end up
Add bulb fertilizer or compost if needed
Water after planting, then keep soil lightly moist

Remove spent flowers after blooming
Let foliage die back naturally before cutting
Dig up and store bulbs if your climate requires it
