Harvest dill leaves when the plant is 6 to 8 inches tall
Cut outer leaves first, leaving the center growth intact
Use clean scissors or garden shears
Harvest in the morning after dew dries
Snip stems just above a leaf node
Take no more than one-third of the plant at a time
Harvest frequently to encourage new growth
Cut flower heads when seeds are green for pickling
Let seed heads dry on the plant for seed harvest
Cut mature seed heads into a paper bag
Store fresh dill in the refrigerator
Dry or freeze extra dill for later use
