Open Instagram
Go to your profile
Tap the menu icon
Select Settings and privacy
Tap Messages and story replies
Turn off Read receipts if available
Use Airplane Mode before opening a message
Close Instagram completely before turning Airplane Mode off
Read messages from notification previews instead of opening them
Use a secondary account if needed
Avoid opening DMs when you do not want seen status to update
