How To Hold A Flute?

Hold the flute horizontally to your right

Place the headjoint lip plate against the lower lip

Rest the flute on the chin area

Keep the embouchure hole centered under the lips

Support the flute with the left hand near the body

Place the left thumb under the flute

Place the left index, middle, and ring fingers on the keys

Use the right hand to support the lower body of the flute

Place the right thumb under the flute for balance

Place the right index, middle, and ring fingers on the lower keys

Keep the pinkies near the footjoint keys

Keep wrists relaxed and straight

Keep elbows slightly away from the body

Maintain a level flute position

Avoid squeezing the flute with the hands

Keep the shoulders relaxed

Keep the head upright and slightly turned

Balance the flute between the chin, left hand, and right hand
