Include each reference’s email address
Include your relationship to each reference
Include references who can speak to your work performance
Ask for permission before listing anyone as a reference
Keep the reference list consistent with the resume format
Place references on a separate page if needed
Use “References available upon request” only if appropriate
Update references regularly
Verify all contact information before submitting
