Measure the room and add extra carpet for trimming
Remove old flooring, baseboards, and any debris
Inspect and repair the subfloor
Clean and vacuum the subfloor thoroughly
Install tack strips around the room perimeter, leaving a small gap from the wall
Lay carpet padding and staple or tape it in place
Cut the carpet to size, leaving extra material on all sides
Position the carpet in the room and align the pattern if needed
Stretch the carpet using a knee kicker and carpet stretcher
Attach the carpet to the tack strips along the edges
Trim excess carpet along the walls
Tuck the edges under the baseboards or install new baseboards
Reinstall transitions, thresholds, and any removed trim
Vacuum the carpet and check for wrinkles or loose areas
