Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Disconnect the old disposal if replacing one
Remove the existing sink flange and drain assembly if needed
Clean the sink opening and remove old plumber’s putty or sealant
Install the mounting ring and gasket under the sink
Apply plumber’s putty to the sink flange
Insert the sink flange into the drain opening
Tighten the mounting assembly from below
Attach the disposal unit to the mounting ring
Connect the dishwasher drain line if applicable
Connect the drain pipe to the disposal outlet
Wire the disposal according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Secure the electrical cover plate
Check all connections for tightness
Turn on the water and restore power
Test the disposal for leaks and proper operation
