Power off the computer
Unplug the power cable
Remove the battery if applicable
Ground yourself to prevent static damage
Open the computer case or laptop access panel
Locate the SSD slot or drive bay
Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot or connect it to the SATA port and power cable
Secure the SSD with the mounting screw or bracket
Close the case or panel
Reconnect the power cable and battery if removed
Turn on the computer
Enter BIOS or UEFI if needed and confirm the SSD is detected
Install or clone the operating system if required
Format and partition the SSD in the operating system if needed
