Measure the window opening and confirm the AC unit fits
Check that the window and frame are strong enough to support the unit
Gather the mounting kit, screws, screwdriver, level, and support brackets if needed
Turn off and unplug the AC unit before installation
Open the window and remove any screens or obstructions
Install the mounting brackets or support frame according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Place the AC unit on the window sill and center it in the opening
Extend the side panels to fill the gaps on both sides
Secure the unit to the window frame with the provided screws
Make sure the unit tilts slightly outward for drainage
Tighten all fasteners and confirm the unit is stable
Seal gaps around the unit with foam or weather stripping
Reinstall or secure the window sash against the top of the unit
Plug the unit into a proper grounded outlet
Test the AC to confirm it powers on and cools properly
Check for air leaks, vibration, or unusual noise
Remove the unit and store it properly before winter if needed
