Pull them by hand when the soil is moist, removing the entire taproot
Use a weeding tool or dandelion digger to extract the full root
Mow regularly to prevent flowering and seed spread
Apply a selective broadleaf herbicide labeled for lawn use
Spot-treat individual plants with a non-selective herbicide if needed
Reapply treatment as directed if regrowth appears
Remove and dispose of seed heads before they spread
Keep grass thick and healthy to reduce new dandelion growth
Overseed thin lawn areas to crowd out weeds
Avoid letting dandelions go to seed
