Use a tick-killing spray labeled for ticks and follow the product instructions
Wash bedding, pet bedding, and clothing in hot water, then dry on high heat
Vacuum carpets, rugs, furniture, baseboards, and pet areas thoroughly
Seal vacuum contents in a bag and dispose of it immediately
Treat pets with veterinarian-recommended tick control products
Remove ticks from skin with fine-tipped tweezers and place them in alcohol or seal them in a bag
Use rubbing alcohol to kill individual ticks placed in a sealed container
Freeze ticks in a sealed container if alcohol is not available
Apply permethrin to clothing and gear only as directed on the label
Keep grass short and remove leaf litter, brush, and debris outdoors
Use tick control products in yards only as directed on the label
