Apply a cold compress or wrapped ice pack for 10–20 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours
Use a warm compress for 10–20 minutes at a time after the first 24–48 hours
Gently massage the area only if it does not hurt and only after the first day
Apply aloe vera gel or vitamin K cream if available
Keep the area elevated if possible
Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at the hickey
Use makeup or concealer to cover it if needed
Wear clothing that hides the area
Give it time, since most hickeys fade on their own within several days to 2 weeks
