Gather materials: paper, scissors, glue or tape, ruler, pencil, and a handle string or wire
Fold the paper in half lengthwise
Cut evenly spaced slits from the folded edge toward the open edge, stopping before the edge
Unfold the paper
Roll the paper into a cylinder and secure the ends with glue or tape
Cut a separate strip of paper for the handle
Attach the handle to the top of the lantern
Add a small LED tea light or battery-powered light inside
Close the top and bottom if needed with paper circles
Hang or place the lantern safely
