Choose fabric for the tote bag
Measure and cut two equal rectangles for the body
Measure and cut two long strips for the handles
Fold and press the top edge of each body piece
Sew the top hem of each body piece
Fold each handle strip lengthwise and sew along the edge
Turn the handles right side out and press flat
Place the two body pieces together with right sides facing
Pin the side and bottom edges
Sew the side and bottom seams
Box the bottom corners if desired
Turn the bag right side out
Attach the handles to the inside top edges
Sew the handles securely in place
Reinforce the handle stitching
Press the finished tote bag
