Gather a small plastic bottle or cup
Place it on a tray or in a shallow pan
Build a volcano shape around it using clay, playdough, paper mache, or aluminum foil
Leave the top of the bottle open
Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda into the bottle
Add a few drops of dish soap
Add red or orange food coloring if desired
Pour in about half a cup of vinegar
Step back and watch the eruption
Clean up the tray and materials afterward
