Wash your hands thoroughly
Use a clean washcloth or small towel
Soak it in warm water
Wring out the excess water
Make sure it is warm, not hot
Close your eyes
Place the compress gently over the eyelid
Keep it on for 5 to 10 minutes
Rewarm the cloth as needed
Repeat 3 to 4 times a day
Use a clean cloth each time
Do not press hard on the eye
Stop if it feels too hot or uncomfortable
