Cut two squares of 100% cotton fabric and two squares of cotton batting to the same size
Use a heat-safe size such as 10 to 12 inches square
Place each fabric square right side up on top of a batting square
Mark stitching lines from corner to corner to form an X
Stitch along the marked lines through fabric and batting
Stitch additional lines to create a grid if desired
Trim the layered squares if needed so all edges are even
Place the two quilted squares right sides together
Pin or clip around the edges
Sew around the perimeter with a 1/4-inch seam allowance
Leave a 2 to 3 inch opening for turning
Trim the corners without cutting the stitches
Turn the cozy right side out through the opening
Push out the corners neatly
Press flat
Topstitch around the entire edge to close the opening
Use only in the microwave with microwave-safe bowls
Avoid synthetic fabrics, metallic threads, and polyester batting
