How To Make Butter?

Pour heavy cream into a clean bowl or jar

Let the cream reach room temperature

Whip or shake the cream until it thickens

Continue whipping or shaking until the butter separates from the buttermilk

Pour off the buttermilk

Rinse the butter under cold water

Press and knead the butter to remove remaining liquid

Add salt if desired

Store the butter in a covered container in the refrigerator
