Mix brown with white to lighten it into tan
Add a small amount of yellow to warm the mix
Add a tiny touch of red if the tan looks too pale
Add more white for a lighter tan
Add more brown for a deeper tan
Adjust with yellow for a golden tan
Adjust with gray for a muted tan
Start with a little paint and mix gradually
Test the color on a separate surface before using it
