Gather fresh dandelion roots, leaves, or flowers from an area free of pesticides and pollution
Rinse the dandelion parts thoroughly under cool running water
Chop the roots into small pieces if using roots
Optional: dry the roots, leaves, or flowers before brewing
Bring water to a boil
Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried dandelion root, leaves, or flowers per cup of water
Reduce heat and simmer roots for 10 to 15 minutes
Steep leaves or flowers in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes
Strain the tea into a cup
Add honey, lemon, or other sweetener if desired
Serve warm or chill and serve over ice
