Start with a black pigment, such as carbon black or lamp black

Test the color on a sample surface
Add more black pigment if the paint looks gray or weak
Add more binder if the mixture is too thick or chalky
Strain the paint if needed to remove lumps
Store the finished paint in a sealed container
