2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 to 1 1/2 cups warm water
Food coloring, optional
Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a bowl
Add vegetable oil and warm water
Add food coloring, if using
Stir until combined
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly
Continue cooking until the dough thickens and forms a ball
Remove from heat
Let cool slightly
Knead until smooth
Store in an airtight container
