How to Make Red Bean Paste?

Rinse 2 cups dried red beans

Soak the beans in water for 6 to 8 hours or overnight

Drain the soaked beans

Add the beans to a pot and cover with fresh water

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer

Cook until the beans are very soft, about 1 to 2 hours

Drain any excess water

Mash the beans until smooth or leave slightly chunky

Add sugar to taste

Add a pinch of salt

Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring often, until thickened

Add a little oil or butter if desired for a smoother paste

Cool before using or storing
