Brown 1 lb ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat; drain excess fat
Add 1 chopped onion and cook 3–5 minutes until softened
Stir in 2–3 cloves minced garlic and cook 30 seconds
Add 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Add 2 tbsp ketchup
Add 1/2 cup tomato sauce
Add 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
Add 1 tbsp brown sugar
Add 1–2 tsp yellow mustard (optional)
Add 1/2 to 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
Add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper
Simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally
If too thick, add a splash of water or broth; if too thin, simmer longer
Toast hamburger buns if desired
Spoon mixture onto buns and serve
