How To Make Tequila?

Harvest mature blue agave plants

Remove the leaves and extract the piña

Cook the piñas to convert starches into fermentable sugars

Crush or shred the cooked agave to extract juice

Ferment the agave juice with yeast

Distill the fermented liquid

Distill again to increase purity and alcohol content

Dilute to the desired proof with water

Filter if needed

Age in barrels if making reposado, añejo, or extra añejo

Bottle the tequila
