Wash and chop apples
Place apples in a clean glass jar
Add sugar or honey
Add filtered water to cover the apples
Stir until the sugar dissolves
Cover the jar with a cloth and secure it
Let it sit in a warm, dark place for 1 to 2 weeks
Stir once a day
Strain out the apple pieces
Return the liquid to the jar
Cover it again with a cloth
Let it ferment for 3 to 6 weeks
Taste it until it becomes sour
Transfer to a clean bottle
Store in a cool, dark place
