How To Make Tomato Sauce From Fresh Tomatoes?

Wash the tomatoes

Score a small X on the bottom of each tomato

Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water for 30 to 60 seconds

Transfer the tomatoes to ice water

Peel off the skins

Remove the cores

Chop the tomatoes

Heat olive oil in a pot

Add chopped onion and cook until soft

Add minced garlic and cook briefly

Add the chopped tomatoes

Add salt and black pepper

Add basil, oregano, or other herbs if desired

Simmer the sauce over low heat

Stir occasionally

Cook until thickened

Blend the sauce if a smoother texture is desired

Taste and adjust seasoning

Use immediately or cool and store
