Decarb cannabis: Preheat oven to 240–250°F (115–121°C); grind cannabis; spread thin on a baking sheet lined with parchment; bake 30–45 minutes; stir once if needed; cool completely
Choose fat: Use unsalted butter (or substitute coconut oil/vegetable oil)
Combine: Add decarbed cannabis to a saucepan with enough butter to fully cover (start with about 1 cup butter per 7–10 g decarbed cannabis for moderate strength)
Low heat infusion: Keep mixture at 160–200°F (71–93°C) for 2–4 hours; stir occasionally; avoid boiling
Strain: Line a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth; strain into a heat-safe bowl
Optional re-infuse: Return strained solids to the saucepan with fresh butter and repeat 1–2 hours for stronger potency
Clarify (optional): Let strained butter cool; skim off any solids/water; store the clear portion
Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container; use within 1–2 weeks or freeze up to 3–6 months
Dosage guidance: Start with small portions; label with cannabis amount and date; adjust in future batches
