Blow your nose gently
Use saline nasal spray or saline rinse
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier or inhale steam
Rest as much as possible
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and other irritants
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine if allergies are the cause
Take an over-the-counter decongestant if appropriate for you
Apply a warm compress over your nose and sinuses
Keep your head elevated
Wash your hands often
See a doctor if it lasts more than 10 days, is severe, or comes with fever, shortness of breath, or facial pain
