Lay the necklace flat on a straight surface
Straighten the chain without stretching it
Use a ruler or measuring tape
Measure from one end of the clasp to the other end
Record the full length in inches or centimeters
For a worn necklace, measure the total hanging length while clasped
For a pendant necklace, measure the chain only unless the pendant is included
If the necklace is irregular or layered, measure each strand separately
Double-check the measurement for accuracy
