How To MLA Cite?

Start with the author’s last name, first name.

Put the title of the source in quotation marks if it is an article, essay, or webpage.

Italicize the title if it is a book, journal, website, or film.

Include the title of the container if needed.

Add other contributors if required.

Add the version if applicable.

Add the publisher.

Add the publication date.

Add the location or page range if needed.

End with the medium only if your instructor requires it.

For in-text citations, use the author’s last name and page number in parentheses.

If there is no author, use the title in quotation marks.

If there is no page number, use only the author’s name or title.
