Gather wool roving or batting
Get a felting needle and a foam pad or felting mat
Pull off a small amount of wool
Shape the wool loosely with your hands
Place the wool on the felting mat
Hold the wool steady with one hand
Poke the needle straight in and out of the wool repeatedly
Turn the piece often to felt it evenly
Add more wool as needed to build the shape
Use a finer needle for smoothing and detailing
Keep fingers away from the needle tip
Continue poking until the wool becomes firm and holds its shape
Trim or adjust the surface as needed
Stop when the piece reaches the desired firmness and form
