How to Not Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator?

Close PowerShell if it is already open as Administrator

Open the Start menu

Type PowerShell

Click Windows PowerShell or PowerShell without selecting Run as administrator

Right-click the PowerShell shortcut

Select Properties

Open the Shortcut tab

Click Advanced

Uncheck Run as administrator

Click OK

Click Apply

Use the normal shortcut instead of an elevated shortcut

Avoid launching PowerShell from an Administrator Command Prompt

Avoid using Win + X and choosing Windows PowerShell (Admin)

If pinned to the taskbar, remove the admin-pinned shortcut and pin a normal one

If using Windows Terminal, open a non-administrator profile or launch Terminal normally
