Wear safety glasses
Put the geode in a thick cloth or towel
Place it on a hard, stable surface
Tap it gently with a small hammer and chisel along the seam
Keep your fingers away from the striking area
Use controlled, light strikes instead of hard hits
Rotate the geode and repeat until it splits
Clean the pieces with water and a soft brush
Have an adult help if you are a kid
