Sit in the driver’s seat and locate the hood release lever near the lower left side of the dashboard or footwell
Pull the hood release lever until you hear the hood pop open slightly
Go to the front of the car and find the secondary hood latch under the front edge of the hood
Slide your hand under the center or slightly offset front edge of the hood and move the safety latch to release it
Lift the hood upward
Support the hood with the prop rod if your Mini Cooper has one
Lower the hood gently and press down until it fully latches closed
