How To Paint A Dresser?

Remove all drawers, hardware, and any removable parts

Clean the dresser thoroughly with soap and water or a degreaser

Let the dresser dry completely

Lightly sand all surfaces to remove gloss and help paint adhere

Wipe away all dust with a tack cloth or damp microfiber cloth

Fill any holes, dents, or scratches with wood filler

Sand the repaired areas smooth

Apply painter’s tape to any areas you do not want painted

Apply a primer suitable for the dresser material

Let the primer dry completely

Lightly sand the primed surface if needed

Wipe away dust again

Apply the first coat of paint with a brush, roller, or sprayer

Let the first coat dry fully

Apply additional thin coats until coverage is even

Let the final coat dry completely

Apply a clear topcoat if desired for extra protection

Reattach hardware and drawers after everything is fully dry

Let the dresser cure before heavy use
