How To Parallel Park With Cones?

Find a safe, empty practice area and place two cones to mark the parking space

Position the cones about one car length apart, or adjust to match the space you want to practice

Pull your car up parallel to the cones, leaving about 2 to 3 feet of space between your car and the cones

Align your rear bumper with the first cone

Put the car in reverse and turn the steering wheel fully toward the curb side

Back up slowly until your front seat passes the first cone

Straighten the steering wheel

Continue reversing until your front bumper clears the first cone

Turn the steering wheel fully away from the curb side

Back up slowly until your car is centered in the space

Straighten the wheels and adjust forward or backward as needed

Stop when the car is parallel to the cones and evenly spaced

Practice using mirrors and slow, controlled movements

Repeat the drill until you can park smoothly and consistently
