Collect a fresh acorn
Remove any caps or debris
Soak the acorn in water for 24 hours
Discard any acorns that float
Fill a pot or planting spot with well-draining soil
Plant the acorn about 1 to 2 inches deep
Place the acorn on its side
Cover it lightly with soil
Water the soil gently
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Place the pot or planting area in a cool, sunny location
Protect the acorn from animals
Wait for sprouting
Transplant the seedling when it is strong enough
