Set up the board with 15 checkers for each player
Place all checkers in the starting positions
Decide who goes first by each player rolling one die
Roll two dice on your turn
Move checkers according to the dice values
Move one checker the full amount of one die and another checker the full amount of the other die, or one checker both amounts if allowed
Move only to open points
A point is open if it has no opposing checkers or only one opposing checker
Hit an opposing blot by landing on a point with one opposing checker
Place hit checkers on the bar
Re-enter checkers from the bar before making other moves
Move checkers around the board toward your home board
Bear off checkers only after all of your checkers are in your home board
Remove checkers from the board by exact dice rolls or by using higher rolls when allowed
Win by bearing off all 15 checkers first
Win a gammon if the opponent bears off none
Win a backgammon if the opponent bears off none and still has checkers on the bar or in your home board
