Use a standard double-12 domino set
Place the double-12 in the center as the starting engine
Shuffle all dominoes face down
Draw the required number of dominoes for each player
Keep the remaining dominoes as the boneyard
Determine the starting player by highest double or agreed rule
On each turn, play one domino that matches an open end
If you cannot play, draw one domino from the boneyard
If the drawn domino can be played, play it immediately
If the drawn domino cannot be played, pass
Start your own train if you have not already done so
Your train must begin from the engine or your marker
Other players may play on the Mexican train if it is open
Other players may also play on any open public train if allowed by the rules being used
Doubles must be matched and then satisfied with an additional play
If you play a double, you must play again to cover it if possible
If you cannot cover a double, your train becomes open
Keep a marker on your train if it is open to others
Continue turns clockwise
End the round when one player uses all dominoes or no legal plays remain
Score by adding the pips left in each player’s hand
Record the score after each round
Play multiple rounds until a target score is reached or the agreed ending condition is met
