Deal 5 cards to each player
Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile
Turn the top card face up to start the discard pile
On your turn, draw one card from the draw pile or take the top card from the discard pile
Try to form valid sets and runs in your hand
A set is 3 or 4 cards of the same rank
A run is 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit
Discard one card at the end of your turn
You may lay down your melds when you have a valid hand
You may go out by discarding your last card after melding
If playing for points, count the value of unmatched cards in opponents’ hands
Face cards are usually worth 10 points
Aces are usually worth 1 point
Number cards are worth their face value
The player with the lowest score wins after the agreed number of rounds
