Gather rocks, water, coarse grit, medium grit, fine grit, polish, a rock tumbler, and soap
Wash the rocks thoroughly to remove dirt and debris
Sort rocks by hardness and size
Fill the tumbler barrel about two-thirds full with rocks
Add coarse grit and water according to the tumbler instructions
Seal the barrel and run the tumbler for the recommended time
Rinse the rocks and barrel completely
Repeat tumbling with medium grit and water
Rinse again and clean the barrel thoroughly
Repeat tumbling with fine grit and water
Rinse again and clean the barrel thoroughly
Add polish and water, then tumble for the recommended time
Rinse the polished rocks well
Dry the rocks completely
Inspect for remaining scratches and repeat finer stages if needed
