Gather supplies: balloons, balloon pump, balloon tape or string, scissors, command hooks or weights, fishing line or clear monofilament (optional), balloon weights (optional), add-on decor (optional)
Choose an arch size and layout: measure the display width and height and plan the number of balloons
Select balloon types and sizes: mix sizes (common: 5–12 inch) and choose colors/finish (matte/gloss/metallic)
Inflate balloons to a consistent size set (small/medium/large) using a pump
Create balloon clusters (common method): group balloons into sets (e.g., 3–5 per cluster) with a consistent ratio of sizes
Tie balloons together per cluster: knot each balloon to the next to form a tight bundle
Make the arch structure: lay out a guide line using balloon tape/string along the measured width
Attach clusters to the guide: secure clusters along the line with balloon tape or tie points at consistent spacing
Add extra balloons for fullness: fill gaps with single balloons or additional clusters as needed
Build the arch shape: adjust spacing and height so the structure curves smoothly
Secure the arch: hang balloon tape/string using command hooks, or place weights at ends if freestanding
Reinforce as needed: use extra tape/string at stress points or add monofilament support
Install the arch: position the arch where it will be displayed and confirm symmetry
Add finishing touches: optional greenery, florals, ribbons, signage, or a balloon “tail” if desired
Prevent sagging: keep balloons away from heat/AC blasts, avoid direct sunlight, and transport carefully
Final check: ensure all knots are secure, cluster spacing looks even, and the arch is level and stable
Backup plan: keep a few extra balloons ready for quick touch-ups on-site
