Install fresh batteries or connect external power
Turn the scanner on
Press `MENU`
Select `Program Radio`
Select `New Channel` or `Edit Channel`
Choose the desired trunked or conventional system type
Enter the frequency or talkgroup information
Set the modulation, step, and mode if needed
Save the channel
Repeat for additional channels or talkgroups
Press `SCAN` to begin scanning
To import from software, connect the scanner to a computer
Use compatible programming software
Load the RadioReference or frequency data
Write the data to the scanner
Disconnect safely and restart scanning
