Start with clean, dry eyelids
Apply an eyeshadow primer or a light dusting of powder
Choose the eyeliner type you want to use
Rest your elbow on a stable surface
Look slightly downward into a mirror
Gently pull the eyelid taut if needed
Begin at the inner corner or middle of the lash line
Draw small, short strokes close to the lashes
Keep the line as thin as possible at first
Build thickness gradually if desired
Connect the strokes smoothly
Extend the line slightly past the outer corner if wanted
Keep both eyes even by checking frequently
Use a cotton swab or angled brush to correct mistakes
Let the eyeliner dry completely
Set with matching eyeshadow if needed
Finish with mascara
