Remove the cap and check the mouthpiece for debris
Shake the inhaler well if it is a metered-dose inhaler
Exhale fully away from the inhaler
Place the mouthpiece between your lips and seal your lips around it
Start to inhale slowly and deeply
Press the canister once as you continue inhaling
Keep inhaling fully
Hold your breath for about 10 seconds, or as long as comfortable
Exhale slowly
Wait the recommended time before a second puff, if prescribed
Replace the cap after use
Rinse your mouth after using a steroid inhaler
Clean the inhaler regularly according to the instructions
