Lay the harness flat and identify the neck loop, chest strap, and back clip
Loosen all adjustable straps
Let your dog sniff the harness briefly
Place the harness over your dog’s head if it is a step-in or over-the-head style
Lift your dog’s front legs and place them into the openings if it is a step-in harness
Position the chest piece centered on the dog’s chest
Bring the straps around the body
Fasten the buckles securely
Adjust the straps so the harness is snug but not tight
Check that you can fit two fingers under each strap
Make sure the harness does not rub the armpits or restrict movement
Attach the leash to the correct clip
Walk your dog a few steps and recheck the fit
