Place the rack on the table with the apex at the foot spot
Put the 1 ball at the apex
Place the 8 ball in the center of the rack
Put one solid and one stripe in the two back corners
Fill the remaining balls randomly, alternating solids and stripes as much as possible
Push all balls tightly together
Remove the rack carefully without disturbing the balls
Check that the rack is tight and the balls are touching
