Look for the three main values for each eye: Sphere, Cylinder, and Axis
Sphere shows nearsightedness or farsightedness
A minus sphere value means nearsightedness
A plus sphere value means farsightedness
Cylinder shows astigmatism
A higher cylinder value means more astigmatism
Axis shows the direction of astigmatism
Axis is measured in degrees from 1 to 180
Check the right eye, usually labeled OD
Check the left eye, usually labeled OS
Compare the values between both eyes
Look for pupil size if listed
Look for keratometry or corneal curvature if listed
Look for visual acuity if listed
Look for PD if listed
PD means pupillary distance
Autorefractor results are a starting point for an eyeglass prescription
Final prescription may differ after subjective refraction
Confirm the unit and sign on each value before reading it
